Nollywood Gets New Leader: Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu Elected 9th National President of AGN.

Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu has made history as the 9th National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), marking a significant milestone as the first Northerner to hold the position. He won the keenly contested election in Benin City, Edo State, by a slim margin of three votes, defeating Hon. Rita Daniel Chukwuji, mother of actress Regina Daniels.

Yakubu's victory has been met with congratulatory messages from Nollywood stars and industry stakeholders, who view his ascension as a fresh dawn for the Guild. His election is expected to bring renewed hopes for unity, structural reforms, and progressive leadership. With his experience as a veteran actor and administrator, Yakubu has pledged to pursue inclusive leadership, institutional reforms, and improved welfare for members.

As the new President, Yakubu has promised to focus on unionizing the guild, creating empowerment opportunities, establishing strong institutional structures, and promoting unity among actors nationwide. His campaign theme, "Continuity with Fresh Innovations for a Better AGN," reflects his commitment to advancing the Guild's interests.
