IGBO-ETITI LGA INAUGURATES TRAFFIC AND WASTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY (IETWMA)

The Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area (LGA) Traffic/Waste Management Authority (IETWMA) has been officially inaugurated by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Dr. Eric Odo.

The initiative reflects the administration of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Governor of Enugu State, whose leadership has consistently prioritized responsive and accountable governance. Through the government’s bottom-up approach to project selection, communities across the state, working closely with their Local Government Chairmen, play a direct role in identifying and prioritizing pressing needs. The establishment of IETWMA is one of such outcomes, designed to improve community welfare and local infrastructure.

Speaking at the inauguration, Hon. Dr. Eric Odo charged members of the Task Force and their Commander, Comr. Chris Oyidi a trained supervisor with the Enugu State Ministry of Transport to be law-abiding, dedicated, and professional in carrying out their responsibilities. He emphasized the importance of ensuring free and safe vehicular movement, protecting motorists and road users, and maintaining a clean and healthy environment across the council area.

Dr. Odo further highlighted that Governor Peter Mbah’s administration has placed strong focus on upgrading urban and rural infrastructure, with particular attention to waste management, traffic control, and renewable energy. The economic growth plan, developed through wide community consultations, is designed to create sustainable development and improved quality of life for residents.

The creation of IETWMA is therefore aligned with broader state level objectives of enhancing public services, strengthening local governance structures, and promoting peace, security, and good governance in Enugu State.
