ENSIEC ENUGU LG ELECTION TIMETABLE, FIXES PRIMARY ELECTION.

The Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) is set to conduct local government elections in the state. According to Chinemeagutv, the commission has released its official schedule for the 2026 Enugu Local Government Chairmanship and Councilorship elections across the 17 LGAs and 260 electoral wards of Enugu State. This was contained in a statement signed by the Executive Chairman, Prof. Christian C. Ngwu.

The election is slated to hold on Saturday, September 26, 2026. ENSIEC has disclosed that:

-January 23, 2026, to February 19, 2026, will be for the conduct of party primaries, including resolution of disputes arising from the primaries and observation by ENSIEC.

- November 27, 2025, to December 12, 2025, is set for political parties to submit information on the conduct of party primaries, specifying the time, venue, and day of the primaries.

The Electoral Body further disclosed that:

- March 25-27, 2026, shall be for the screening of chairmanship candidates' credentials at the ENSIEC Headquarters, in the following order:


    - Enugu North Zone - March 25
    - Enugu East Zone - March 26
    - Enugu West Zone - March 27

The official statement also indicates that the last day for submission of Nomination Forms ENSIEC 7 and ENSIEC 7A for Chairmanship and Councilorship Elections, respectively, by Political Parties, is not later than 180 days before the election in accordance with section 29(1) of the Electoral Act 2022.
