TRAGEDY STRIKES: FOUR YOUTHS KILLED IN IKOLO COMMUNITY, ENUGU STATE!

Mc O one Chat News reports online has gathered that a devastating incident occurred on Thursday, August 8, 2024, in Ikolo Community, Igbo Etiti Local Government Area, Enugu State, resulting in the loss of four young lives from Amankpo Umuezike AKu.

The victims, Ihuagu Sunday, Onasie Chukwuka, Odeh Ikemefuna, and Ozota Chukwueroka, all in their early twenties, were part of a group searching for three missing brothers who had been unaccounted for since Friday, August 2, 2024.

Eyewitnesses report that the group, numbering over ten, had visited the Ogbede Police Station to inquire about the investigation into the missing persons. However, the police, accompanied by a suspect, left for Enugu State CID, leaving the youths to continue their search alone.

Upon arriving in Ikolo Community, the group was met with gunfire, resulting in the tragic loss of four lives and leaving many others, including women and children, severely injured.

This incident has sparked widespread concern, with Hon. Chineme Agu urging the government to take immediate action to address the situation and prevent further escalation.

The Chairman of Nsukka NUJ Mr. Ike Okenyi, in a statement, called on stakeholders in Igbo Etiti Local Government Area to intervene and prevent the crisis from devolving into a full-blown community war.

The Eke AKu market, the only major market in AKu town, remained closed today due to the killings and kidnappings.

The chairman of Aku Welfare Association Federated (AwAF) has appealed for calm, assuring that leaders are working behind the scenes to address the situation and bring perpetrators to justice.
