*COMMUNITY VIGILANCE TRIUMPHS OVER CRIME: AWAF FACILITATES ARREST AND PROSECUTION OF NOTORIOUS MOTORCYCLE THIEF*

In a resounding demonstration of community-driven justice, the Aku Welfare Association Forum (AWAF) has successfully orchestrated the apprehension and prosecution of a suspected motorcycle thief, who had been wreaking havoc on the Nsukka-Lejja-Aku Road.

According to a statement released by AWAF National President, Sir Theo Didigwu, the suspect was taken into custody in Ibadan on July 12, 2024, following a synergistic effort by AWAF members and law enforcement agencies. The suspect, a native of Enugu Ezike, has confessed to perpetrating multiple attacks and thefts on the Nsukka-Lejja-Aku Road, with this being his fourth offense.

AWAF's intervention was instrumental in ensuring the transfer of the suspect from Ibadan to Enugu for prosecution, with the organization providing logistical support and financial assistance to facilitate the operation. The statement also highlighted the contributions of several individuals who donated funds to support the operation, underscoring the power of community collaboration in combating crime.

AWAF has commended the efforts of its members, law enforcement agencies, and donors who supported the operation, and has called on the community to continue supporting its initiatives to restore the image of Aku Town. This triumph serves as a testament to the impact of collective action in promoting justice and safeguarding community well-being.
